Every House of Bridie creation begins with a real pilgrimage, and this wand was inspired by one of the most magical moments we have ever experienced.

During our journey to the ancient City of Wells in Somerset, we spent time at the beautiful moat surrounding the historic Bishop's Palace. Home to the famous bell-ringing swans for over 150 years, the Palace has long been known for the extraordinary tradition of its resident swans pulling a rope to ring a bell whenever they would like feeding. Today, that tradition continues with the resident swans, Grace and Gabriel, who pass this remarkable behaviour on to each new generation of cygnets.

As we stood quietly beside the water, surrounded by Grace, Gabriel and their young cygnets, something unforgettable happened. One of the swans gently moulted a feather which drifted across the water towards us. It felt like a beautiful gift from Brigid herself – a quiet blessing that perfectly reflected her sacred connection with swans, holy wells and the gentle guidance of the natural world.

Rather than simply taking home a memory, we carefully gathered only those treasures that nature had already offered. A naturally fallen branch from the ancient trees beside the moat became the heart of the wand. Genuine ivy leaves, pine cones and other woodland treasures that had already fallen to the ground were collected with gratitude and respect. The crystal point was chosen later in Glastonbury to complete the piece, bringing together the sacred waters of Wells with the spiritual landscape of Avalon.

Every wand is handcrafted to honour that moment.

The famous Palace itself has become part of British film history, with Wells featuring in Hot Fuzz, while the magnificent cathedral nearby has recently served as a filming location for the forthcoming Masters of the Universe film, standing in as the legendary Castle Eternia. Yet for us, the greatest magic wasn't found on a film set—it was beside the peaceful waters, watching Grace and Gabriel glide across the moat while teaching their cygnets the centuries-old tradition of ringing the bell for their supper.

Rather than being made from manufactured materials alone, this wand is created from natural treasures discovered during pilgrimage, each carrying its own story and connection to the sacred landscape.

The swan is one of Brigid's most treasured symbols, representing grace, purity, inspiration and the ability to move effortlessly between the physical and spiritual worlds. The genuine swan feather was naturally shed by one of the famous swans living at the Bishop's Palace in Wells, where generations of swans have made their home. It serves as a reminder of peaceful guidance, intuition and the gentle wisdom that Brigid is believed to offer those who walk her path.

Alongside the swan feather is a naturally found dark feather discovered amongst the swans and water birds that share the palace moat, there is also a feather from one of the friendly ducks that live alongside the swans. Together, the feathers symbolise harmony, companionship and the shared life that flourishes around sacred waters.

The wand itself is formed around a naturally fallen oak branch. The bark has intentionally been left visible beneath sections of the copper wrapping and Ivy, preserving the character and texture of the wood rather than hiding it. The vibrant carnelian crystals surrounding the pine cone honour Brigid's eternal flame.
