House of Bridie

Large Sterling Silver Brigid Cross Necklace & Altar Essence Set

£120.00

The Large Sterling Silver Brigid Cross Necklace is a timeless expression of one of the Celtic world's most enduring sacred symbols. Worn close to the heart, it honours Brigid as a guardian of the hearth, a bringer of light, and a source of inspiration whose story has been treasured through countless generations.

Long associated with Imbolc, the ancient Celtic festival celebrating the first stirrings of spring, the Brigid Cross has come to symbolise protection, renewal and the promise of new beginnings. As the traditions of Ireland evolved, this same symbol became closely linked with Saint Brigid of Kildare, while also echoing the older stories of Brigid, the revered Celtic goddess of fire, healing, poetry, creativity and sacred craftsmanship.

Whether you are drawn to Brigid through her ancient goddess roots, her place in Celtic spirituality, or her legacy as one of Ireland's most beloved saints, this beautifully crafted necklace serves as a meaningful reminder of resilience, hope and the quiet strength found in tending the inner flame.

Presented in a House of Bridie gift box and accompanied by our Rose Goddess Altar Essence, it has been created as a keepsake to wear, treasure and carry with you on your own journey—connecting the wisdom of the past with the inspiration of the present.

Whether chosen as a connection to Irish heritage, an expression of devotion to Brigid or simply as a meaningful piece of Celtic jewellery, it is a beautiful reminder of warmth, courage and hope.

The Pilgrimage Story

The House of Bridie was shaped by our own pilgrimages to places where Brigid’s story still feels vividly alive.

We travelled to Kildare in Ireland, home of her sacred flame and enduring religious legacy, and to Glastonbury, where the wells and ancient landscape continue to draw those seeking reflection, healing and connection.

The experiences we carried home inspired us to create a House devoted to meaningful objects, wearable symbols and everyday rituals rooted in Brigid’s legacy.

Although this necklace is not handmade by us, it has been thoughtfully selected because its symbolism belongs so naturally within that story. Each piece is inspected and carefully presented in our Guernsey studio before beginning its own journey to you.

Before wearing your pendant for the first time, you may wish to place a few drops of the included Rose Goddess Altar Essence onto your altar, sacred space or a cloth beside your jewellery as part of a simple blessing ritual. Take a quiet moment to reflect, set an intention or offer a prayer before placing the pendant around your neck.

Many choose to wear their Brigid Cross during meditation, pilgrimage, seasonal celebrations such as Imbolc, or whenever they seek inspiration, courage, healing or creative guidance.

When not being worn, return your pendant to its keepsake pouch or gift box, allowing it to remain a treasured part of your personal spiritual practice for years to come.

Sacred Symbolism

The Brigid Cross is one of the most enduring and beloved symbols of the Celtic world, representing protection, hope, renewal and the returning light. Traditionally associated with the festival of Imbolc, it honours the changing of the seasons and the promise of new beginnings as winter gives way to spring.

For centuries, the Brigid Cross has been a symbol of blessing and protection, closely associated with Saint Brigid of Kildare while also reflecting the older traditions of Brigid, the revered Celtic goddess of healing, creativity, sacred fire, poetry and inspiration.

During our pilgrimages to the sacred wells of Kildare, we were deeply moved to see the Brigid Cross engraved above many of the holy wells, quietly watching over those who came to pray, reflect and receive their blessings. We discovered the same sacred symbolism at the White Spring in Glastonbury, where beautifully crafted wrought iron gates bearing the Brigid Cross welcome pilgrims into this ancient sanctuary of living water. Seeing the same symbol at these two sacred places beautifully reflects Brigid's enduring connection with both sacred fire and sacred water.

Inspired by these pilgrimages, each pendant is accompanied by our Rose Goddess Altar Essence, handcrafted with sacred well waters respectfully collected from the White Spring in Glastonbury and the holy wells of Kildare. Together, the pendant and altar essence honour these living traditions, offering a meaningful reminder of protection, healing, hope and the sacred journey that continues to inspire House of Bridie.
